Photographing a new born is a tedious task! Not only does it take a great amount of energy but also a positive attitude to envision and capture precious moments. When I met Amrita, I knew she was someone who would go an extra mile to make her work stand out and of course enjoy it. I was happy to talk to her and it is indeed my pleasure to share about Amrita Samant with you guys here!
She is a maternity, newborn, baby and family photographer based in Chennai, Bangalore and Singapore. She has been shooting kids for about 3.5 years now has covered over 800 families approximately. When one talks to her, it isn’t difficult to feel her infectious energy flowing from her ideas about how one could do an exciting and fun-filled photo shoot.
So, what makes Amrita different from many others who offer similar services?
- Her most recent offering – Documenting a day in the life of a baby which borders on the lines of Modern Storytelling through Photography. This idea involves spending a few hours with a family and capturing their daily routine with their child/baby being a part of their lives. Focusing on more raw, natural and genuine moments between them from nap time, to feed time, to little fights and the making up afterward, to stealing kisses and subconsciously capturing parents ‘care’ for their offsprings in their most comfortable environment.
- Amrita believes that the market for photography is huge and we need more people to take up the work. So, she conducts workshops to teach her talent to those interested. She said, “It is a great career choice for women who want a career change from a mundane work life” (of course only of they’re passionate about it).
In my chat with her, her different way of thinking stood out for me. If I have a chance in the near future, I will surely engage with her to capture some precious moments and would highly recommend you too 🙂
